A Strange Autumn (by: Nabila Basri)
The sun has rise
It’s time to feel the cool breeze
Fear of this surprise
This season will mesmerize
I put on my jacket
I walk out the door
And there was a packet
In front of my door
I felt surprised
To have a packet in autumn
No one has got one
I felt forlorn
I picked it up and went back to the house
I lay it down on the chair
And ignored it like I ignored a mouse
And I went out the door
And felt the warm breeze in my cheeks
I sniffed the air to smell sugar perfume
I said, “I wish autumn would last for weeks,”
The road was calm
There were only a few cars
Flowers bloomed like mad
I felt them smiling inside the park
I went to the café
To get some coffee
And to have a breakfast like toffee
I sat on the pantry
And looked through the windows
Everything was turning out perfectly
I had my coffee and my breakfast
And I went to a bench outside the café
I knew someone was watching me
I knew it was her
She, who made my life bizarre,
Finally she let out a peep and a little wave
I smiled and waved back
She walked slowly to me and sat on the bench
We were silent for these few minutes
She fetched something from her pocket
It was strips of bubblegum
She handed one of them to me and said “here”
I said thank you and she disappeared
Autumn can be relaxing and fun
But when you realize that this season is really something
You can tell that people are being shy under the sun
So watch out for slippery slippers while you’re running
What I mean is…
You can’t just sit back and relax in autumn…
