Living in Music (by Nabila Basri)

Music is the melody inside your heart

Music is the harmony inside your soul

Everyone wants to be a part

A part of the musical soul

Express your feelings with words

They will turn out to great lyrics

Oh, the sound of the birds

They would not sound like a T-rex

Humming all the tunes of the song

Live it all you dream

It will last really long

They will taste a lot like ice-cream

Whenever you hear sounds

It is called music

If Gathering water to rain is the hobby of clouds

Then musicians’ job is making a lyric

Music makes a beautiful soul

It makes all of you cry with tears

We all want to try to bowl

Let’s make a song with our peers

Music is everywhere

This day has inspired me

To make crafty music

Anywhere, even under a tree

The dolphins trying to speak

Their sounds are a fanatic

They sound really great

And it makes you a special person

Now you know that music is beautiful

You live in music

There is no other way to live

So music is everywhere

It lives just like us

  3. Faisal Says:

Yes, she is 10 years old. I just showed her the posting tonight. I regret not to ask for her permission. She told me that she got inspiration from Baudelaire’s Selected Poems.

    Dear Nabila,
Of course I want to read more poems from you. You write much better than any 10 years old girl I know (even better than most grown-up American!). I’m not saying this to make you feel better. It’s my field, because I’m taking poetry class at Arizona State University. So, feel free to send me your writing. I’m honored to read them.

    Take care,
    Uly Siregar
